You can set the filter on your Browser to filter information.
For MS Internet Explorer, go to;
Tools > Internet Options > Content > Content Advisor (Enable) to review and change settings.
To block pictures or animations go to;
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > scroll down to Multimedia to disable or enable content.
Generally, searching by subject is safest as one goes directly to a suitable site.
Some search engines can be set to filter content
Altavista has a family filter setup.
Go Home > Settings > Family Filter Setup to customise the filter.
Google has safe filtering preferences.
Go Home > Preferences > Safe Search Filtering.
